Product Information:

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerin, Water, Oatmeal, Sodium Hydroxide, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitan Oleate, Oat Protein, Titanium Dioxide

These ingredients are commonly used to manufacture high-quality melt and pour soap bases. Here's a breakdown of their importance:

  • Glycerin: Glycerin is a natural humectant that attracts and retains moisture. In melt and pour soap making, glycerin adds hydrating and texture-enhancing properties to the soap base.
  • Sodium Hydroxide: Also known as lye, sodium hydroxide is essential in soap making. It is used to convert oils and fats into soap through a process called saponification. No sodium hydroxide is left after the saponification process. In a melt and pour soap base, the saponification process has already occurred, and the sodium hydroxide is typically used in trace amounts to adjust the pH level.
  • Sorbitol: Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol that is often used as a humectant in skincare products. In a melt and pour soap base, it helps to attract and retain moisture, leaving skin feeling hydrated.
  • Propylene Glycol: Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid that is used as a solvent, humectant, and emulsifier in skincare and haircare products. In melt and pour soap base, Propylene Glycol helps to keep the soap base from drying out and makes it easier for you to melt and pour the soap base.
  • Sorbitan Oleate: Sorbitan Oleate is derived from Olive oil, and sorbitol (sugar alcohol). Sorbitan Oleate is an emulsifier that is used to help mix oil and water-based ingredients. In a melt and pour soap base, it helps to ensure consistency throughout the soap base.
  • Oat Protein: Oat protein is derived from oats and is often used in skincare products because of its soothing and moisturizing properties. In a melt and pour soap base, it can help to soothe and hydrate the skin.

Shelf Life: 1 year

Usage Instructions: Cut the base into small, uniform cubes. Place them into a heat-safe container and melt using the double boiler method or in the microwave using 10 to 30-second bursts, stirring between each one. Mix in any additives, pour into molds, and spritz with alcohol to pop bubbles. Let the soap fully cool and harden for 4 to 24 hours, unmold, and enjoy.
